Dear Members,

Welcome back to the 2008 golf season and the new and improved Foxborough Country Club!

So far, the weather cooperated with us on Opening Day and all who attended and played had an enjoyable time. The weather was not as cooperative for the Irish Open, but then again, it is only May in New England and it didn’t stop us from having a wonderful time with a great roast beef dinner following play.

I’m sure most of you have met Lou Rivers, our new Pro. Lou is looking forward to meeting all the members and has done a great job so far memorizing our names! Good job, Lou. Be on the lookout for Lou’s clinics, which he will be holding at dates throughout the season. And make sure to check out the merchandise in the Pro Shop. Lou has brought in new manufacturers and apparel and can help you with whatever golf needs you may have.

In line with the start of the season, there are a couple of items I would like to bring to your attention. First, if members have ideas about how the course or clubhouse could be improved or how the greens should be cut, please bring those comments directly to our general manager, Jean Bergeron, and not directly to the department heads. I’m sure you can understand that, with so many members, the department heads feel overwhelmed with all the various views and input.  Jean welcomes your comments and by being the central source of information, he can address them directly or bring them to the appropriate department head for review. 

Additionally, please know that you can address any issues directly to me or the board of governors through the Foxborough Country Club website at http://www.foxboroughcc.com/.

Secondly, I would like to remind all members to register and/or update your e-mail addresses with the Club so that we can communicate directly with you and bring you the most up to date information regarding Club events. You can do this on line on the Club’s web site as well.

Have a great season, hit them long and straight and keep it in the short grass.
