On Friday August 8th a city main line supplying all the water to the club burst under our lower putting green. The pipe supplying water to the club is a four-inch asbestos pipe around 50-65 years old. The pipe runs from the outside of the new building area under our lower putting green, to the fire hydrant and then to the street. The pipe should be buried 4-5 feet deep and under the putting green, but as we found out, it's about 7-8 feet deep because of material added to build the green. The water began to come upward and at first did not puncture the surface but instead snaked it’s way downhill towards the big rock next to the putting green. The water lifted the putting surface turf several inches to a foot in some locations.
